Privacy
No cookies. No tracking. Your numbers never leave your browser.
BracketMath is built on the principle that you should be able to model your own tax and retirement scenarios without anyone — including us — ever seeing the inputs. This page explains exactly what data is and isn't collected, by whom, and for what purpose.
The short version
- No cookies are set on this site.
- No personal data is collected, stored, or transmitted from any calculator.
- All calculations run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Inputs (your salary, dividend, pension, age, etc.) are never sent to a server.
- We use Cloudflare Web Analytics — a privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics service — to count anonymous page views.
- No newsletter sign-up, no contact form, no account creation is currently offered. If we add any of these later, this page will be updated and the change noted explicitly.
1. Data controller
For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, the data controller for BracketMath is the site operator, contactable at [email protected].
2. Calculator inputs (the important bit)
Every calculator on BracketMath is a static page that loads a small amount of JavaScript into your browser. When you type a number into a calculator (your salary, dividend, pension contribution, age, retirement age, etc.) and click "Calculate", the calculation happens entirely on your device. Your inputs never travel across the network. They are never logged, stored, sold, shared, or seen by us, by Cloudflare, by any analytics provider, or by anyone else.
Refresh the page and your inputs are gone forever, even from your own browser (unless we add an explicit "save" feature in future — which we would communicate clearly).
3. Cookies
BracketMath does not set any first-party cookies. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. The site is statically generated and served via Cloudflare's edge network; Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie (`__cf_bm`) to mitigate bot traffic — this is exempt from the consent requirement under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) Regulation 6(4)(b) because it is "strictly necessary" for the service you have requested (delivering the website). It cannot be used to track you across other sites.
4. Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and broad geographic information (typically: country, sometimes region). This is a cookieless, privacy-preserving analytics service. No personal data, no IP addresses, no device fingerprints, and no cross-site tracking identifiers are collected. Cloudflare's documentation of the service is available at cloudflare.com/web-analytics.
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta/Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Twitter Pixel, Hotjar, FullStory, Microsoft Clarity, or any session-replay or fingerprinting analytics services.
5. Server logs
Cloudflare, as our hosting and CDN provider, processes basic technical metadata (HTTP request details, IP address, user agent) for the purpose of serving the page to you and protecting the site against denial-of-service and abusive bot traffic. Cloudflare's privacy practices for this processing are documented at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. We do not receive, store, or have access to these raw logs.
6. Affiliate links
Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links (see the disclaimer for full details). When you click an affiliate link, the destination third-party network or merchant (e.g. Awin, Impact.com, or the brand directly) may set a cookie on your browser to attribute a future sign-up or purchase to BracketMath. That cookie is set by the third party, not by us, and is governed by their privacy policy — not this one. If you do not want to be tracked by a third party after clicking, you can right-click the affiliate link, copy the destination URL, and visit the merchant directly without the tracking parameter.
7. Email contact
If you email [email protected] we will, of course, see your email address and your message. We use Gmail (operated by Google) to receive and read these emails. We don't add you to any list, don't share your message with anyone, and delete the thread once the matter is resolved. Google's processing of email is governed by their own privacy policy.
8. Your rights under UK GDPR
Because BracketMath does not collect or store personal data about you, there is, in practice, nothing for us to disclose, rectify, port, or delete. If you have nevertheless emailed us and wish for the thread to be deleted, email us and we will delete it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe we have mishandled your data.
9. Changes to this policy
If we materially change what we do with data — for example, by adding a newsletter sign-up, a contact form, or a user account system — we will update this page and note the change in the "Last updated" line below. Cosmetic clarifications won't be flagged but won't change the substance.
